Ms. Pam Hoog is a history teacher who is starting a new job with a class of kids that disrespects her as well as each other. Not only does she have problems trying to get the kids to want to learn about history, she’s dealing with a most serious personal issue of her own - her son needing surgery - so she has to find a way to solve both situations. How does she do it? By getting her students interested in hunting for a treasure with a long history in the area. In doing so, the teens find out things about themselves, and Ms. Hoog finds out that most of her students are not so different from her: they all have personal problems to deal with just as she does. The kids learn during the course of this hunt to work as a team while they learn about history with great interest. This is a story about encouraging others and seeing people for what is in the inside, not just seeing what’s on the outside.
