In January, Derek Tidball writes on Leviticus, a book that was vitally important to God’s people as it set out their lifestyle. It showed them how to please God and how to be different from people around them. We see the unchanging heart of God and learn too how to be His holy and distinctive people. It shows us (1) how to please God, (2) how to overcome any breach of relationship with Him and (3) how to be different from people around us. In February, David Coffey continues through Hebrews -- chapters 7—13. We will discover the intrinsic power of this letter to bring encouragement to those who are tempted to lose heart and stop running the Christian race. The writer is saying to his readers: stay anchored; keep your eyes fixed on Jesus; don’t quit until the race is over! (12:1--3). In the Person of Jesus we have a priest who brings us near and keeps us near to God(7:22--25).
