Noah

The importance of Noah and the Flood account is indicated in Scripture by the amount of space dedicated to it. Just the account of the Deluge (Gen. 6:9—8:22) covers as much in the Genesis narrative as the millennia from Adam to Noah (4:1—6:8) or from Noah to Abraham (9:1—11:26). The call of Noah, similar to the call of Abraham, indicates the importance of his place in the history of God’s redemption of humanity. His life covers the transition from one major epoch to the next in God’s dealings with humankind. Noah is one of various patriarchs who were a type of Christ. His life and ministry are in the Scriptures to bless us.
