From his birth in Bethlehem to his death and eventual resurrection, the life of Jesus Christ is given the all-star treatment in this epic retelling. Major aspects of Christ’s life are touched upon in this 1965 film directed by George Stevens. Max von Sydow sensitively plays the role of Jesus, best reflected in his spontaneous mourning at discovering his friend Lazarus has died - and Stevens renders the familiar tale with a handsome authenticity. The star-studded cast includes John Wayne, Charlton Heston, Pat Boone, Martin Landau, Angela Lansbury, Roddy McDowell, David McCallum, Dorothy McGuire and Carroll Baker amongst others.
