King David is the only person described in the Bible as being ‘a man after God’s own heart’ – yet he was an adulterer and a murderer, amongst other things. His family fell apart towards the end of his life, and he made some bad decisions. Yet, through it all he was always ready, if not immediately, to admit he was wrong and to turn to God and ask for forgiveness. He poured out his heart towards God in a whole series of poems and songs that make up most of the book of Psalms.
